In my 2nd year of grad school, I asked @geoffreyhinton what heâd do after winning a Turing or Nobel Prize. Geoff told me the fabled story about Tim Hunt, a Nobel prize winning biologist. The day after winning the Nobel prize, Tim told his students heâd be less involved in their direct supervision and day-to-day lab work. Then Geoff joked, âDonât worry, Iâm saving you from âunsupervised learning.ââ
