Jared Erondu is a design-first builder who turns product problems into elegant, useful experiences, former SVP of Design & Marketing at Lattice, now shaping design at Span. He creates podcasts, writes practical design wisdom, and invests in early-stage founders while juggling dad-life, photography, and Ravens fandom.
You care so much about elegant UX that you probably have a five-step flowchart for picking a coffee mug, and yes, there’s a user research plan for your living room setup.
Played a defining role in scaling Lattice from early days to a high-growth company where brand and UX became core competitive advantages, while building a design org and launching widely-read projects like AskPlaybook and HighResPodcast.
To craft clarity out of complexity: build products, teams, and stories that help people work better and feel understood. He aims to elevate how teams design, ship, and communicate, leaving behind tools and communities that outlast any single product.
Great design starts with understanding the problem; thoughtful craft and empathy win over flashy trends; strong teams and clear mission scale impact; small joys (like elegant charging) matter as much as big metrics.
Clarity of thought and communication, ability to scale design into business impact, mentoring and hiring talent, making complex systems feel simple, and converting product craft into storytelling and communities.
Can over-iterate in pursuit of craft, spreading attention across too many creative projects at once, and occasionally trading speed for polish, which risks burnout or leaving some ideas half-finished.
On X, lean into short case-study threads that break down design choices step-by-step with visuals and before/after screenshots. Clip podcast moments into short videos, pin a «how I think» thread, host occasional Spaces for Q&A, amplify hiring posts, and use consistent, signature framing (e.g., ‘Understand the problem.’) to make content instantly recognizable.
Fun fact: Jared has 22,971 followers and has tweeted 21,362 times, so if you drop a design question, there's a good chance he'll have a thread-ready opinion. He created AskPlaybook and HighResPodcast, is an angel investor, proud dad, photographer, billiards fan, and unapologetic Ravens supporter.
After 8+ incredible years, this month marks my last at @LatticeHQ
Lattice has been a defining part of my life. I joined on day one as a consultant, when @jaltma and @ekosz1—who I worked with at Teespring—shared their vision to help teams have more impact. I remember early morning whiteboarding sessions in the living room, late-night Sketch uploads (remember that?), and weekend Costco runs for peanut butter pretzels. I have never consumed as much coffee as I did during that period.
I blinked, and 1.5 years had passed. Just after wrapping @highrespodcast, Jack took me on a walk along the Embarcadero and said, “Give us one year full-time. You’re going to love it.” I was already working out of the office and was so drawn to the mission and early employees. I had to say yes!
He was right. One year turned into eight. One product became a suite, then a platform. $100K in revenue grew into $X00M ARR. A live/work apartment turned into a global presence. But what's most impressive is what's stayed the same: our clarity of mission, strength of values, amazing people, and unwavering focus on customers.
After I shared my transition, a colleague asked me what one word best captured how I felt. At first, it seemed impossible—how do you distill so many emotions into a single word? But then it hit me: gratitude.
I’m grateful to Jack and Eric for bringing me on 10 years ago. To the many leaders and mentors I’ve learned from. To my peers who supported me in tough times. For the opportunities I’ve had to lead across Design, Research, Product, Engineering, and most recently Marketing. And to @swbjoyce, our CEO, for her partnership, support, and trust over the past year.
Most of all, I want to thank my teams. It’s hard to put into words what you’ve meant to me. From the start, it’s been a privilege to build and lead with you. I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together. Our brand and user experience became defining strengths of Lattice—helping us punch above our weight, win competitive deals, and retain customers year after year. Watching you grow has been one of the greatest joys of my career.
As I step away, I do so with full confidence in the people I leave behind. It’s been the honor of a lifetime to design this company with you.
And now, I’m excited for a new chapter—I became a father earlier this year! More on what’s next soon. Onward.
I’m excited to announce the launch of @Span_Platform’s AI Code Detector! 🚀
We all know how transformative AI coding assistants have been, but it's still hard to know what's AI vs. not & what impact it's ultimately having on quality, velocity, and security. Now you can with Span—powered by our machine learning model, span-detect-1, which detects AI-generated code with an industry-best 95% accuracy.
We can’t wait to see how this helps engineering leaders who want to lead with hard data, not hype. Try it out today—completely free.

I don't recommend products often, but I have to say that @mercury personal has been amazing. It's been my family's primary bank for over a year now. Amazing design, amazing service, and speedy banking (sending wires is so seamless)

I have never consumed as much coffee as I did during that period.\n\nI blinked, and 1.5 years had passed. Just after wrapping @highrespodcast, Jack took me on a walk along the Embarcadero and said, “Give us one year full-time. You’re going to love it.” I was already working out of the office and was so drawn to the mission and early employees. I had to say yes!\n\nHe was right. One year turned into eight. One product became a suite, then a platform. $100K in revenue grew into $X00M ARR. A live/work apartment turned into a global presence. But what's most impressive is what's stayed the same: our clarity of mission, strength of values, amazing people, and unwavering focus on customers.\n\nAfter I shared my transition, a colleague asked me what one word best captured how I felt. At first, it seemed impossible—how do you distill so many emotions into a single word? But then it hit me: gratitude.\n\nI’m grateful to Jack and Eric for bringing me on 10 years ago. To the many leaders and mentors I’ve learned from. To my peers who supported me in tough times. For the opportunities I’ve had to lead across Design, Research, Product, Engineering, and most recently Marketing. And to @swbjoyce, our CEO, for her partnership, support, and trust over the past year.\n\nMost of all, I want to thank my teams. Watching you grow has been one of the greatest joys of my career.\n\nAs I step away, I do so with full confidence in the people I leave behind. It’s been the honor of a lifetime to design this company with you.\n\nAnd now, I’m excited for a new chapter—I became a father earlier this year! More on what’s next soon. Software development is changing faster than ever, with AI reshaping how teams build and ship. And the pressure on engineering leaders is only increasing. Span’s aim to help teams cut coordination costs and drive performance at scale feels both urgent and important. That challenge—and the chance to help define how design can elevate this new wave of AI-powered tooling—is incredibly energizing.\n\nJoining now also means being both a design leader and the team’s solo IC (for now!). At this stage, that feels exactly right. Design has evolved a lot in recent years, and I’m energized by the chance to get my hands back on the work, experiment with new ways of building in this AI era, and evolve the practice from the ground up.\n\nThe foundation here is already strong, and we’ve got some exciting things cooking that I can’t wait to share.
